Thank You

Awhile ago I read a post by a woman named Sonja who was a breast cancer survivor wanting to help others, much like my mother.  She started something called Project Give Thanks where she collects thank you cards from stampers to donate to Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Boulder, CO.  The purpose was to provide free cards to give to caregivers, doctors, nurses, etc.  Since the purpose of our company was to help women with breast cancer, my mother and I decided to add on to this project and donate to a place local to my mother, The Mollie Wilmot Radiation Oncology Center in Saratoga Springs, NY.  We are making the cards ourselves, or I should say my mother has been making the cards.  This is the first one I've made and I wanted to share it.  That is one of my New Year's resolutions..to stamp more.  I have several stamps that are really good for nurses and doctors.  For this card I used Nurse Sophie from Riley and Company.  The thank you is from Lili of the Valley.  She was colored with copics and backed with Memory Box papers.

Merry Christmas Maddie!

I thought I'd share a card I made for a "niece" Maddie the other day. She is the daughter of one of my friends from college but I consider her a niece since I spent a lot of time with her when she was a baby. I was a little rushed but then I always seem to be so I don't take the time I should. Since she has a dog and a cat I thought this might be a cute card for her. I needed something to put a gift card in but was too lazy to make an actual holder so I just made the card :) I used Best Friends from Tiddly Inks for the image and colored it using copics. I also used a small snowflake stamp from Amuse Artstamps.  I added some glitter on the ground to look like snow. The paper is Memory Box.  Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas!

Kraftin' Kimmie Sparkle and Shine

I have bought several Kraftin' Kimmie stamps recently but this is the first one I've finished.  I love them when other people color them but not so much when I do it lol.  I came across the challenge this week at Kraftin' Kimmie's blog and decided to enter this card in it.  I used Felicity who I just love for this card.  For the sparkle part, I put glitter on her wings which may be hard to see here.  I colored her with copics.  I sponged Distress Ink on an oval I cut out with my Nestabilites and cut Felicity out to put on that.  The border was done using my favorite border punch, Woodland Branch.  The background paper is Bo-Bunny.

Fall Pears

When I first learned to stamp, I was taught by a woman who loved pear stamps.  I used a few in classes but never bought one..until now.  I just received the new Pear Sketch Trio stamp from Memory Box.  I saw some gorgeous cards that inspired me.  I really don't make too many fall cards but for some reason I had to make one.  Not only was using a pear stamp new for me, I also used Glimmer Mist..oooooh. lol.  I used Bronze and Suede and spritz on my paper (Heavenly White).  I decided to use a paper towel to blot it up a little which left it a little smudgy.  I was obviously too close to the paper.  Before it dried (because I really lack patience and was too lazy to go to the other room to get a heat gun) I took my Prismacolor Pencils and colored in the pears and stems.  I then backed it with some cream colored paper cut out with my nestabilities and mounted it on Memory Box paper with a cream ribbon.  I wish the glimmer had shown up on the picture because it looks cool in person.  The card seems to need a little more, but I just wasn't sure what.  Maybe a quote?  Thanks for looking :)

I made this card for the Tiddly Inks challenge this week.  I really love fall colors so this challenge was fun.  I used Druscilla who I haven't had the chance to use yet.  I colored her using my copics and added some glitter to her wings.  I used the Memory Box fall papers and added a paper flower.

Tiddly Inks Challenge #61 - Thank You Teacher

It has been awhile since I did a challenge.  I was an unfortunate casualty of Congress's inability to work together and have been home the last two weeks trying to not spend money..so no challenges :(  The challenge at Tiddly Inks this week was to do a thank you teacher theme.  My niece is going to start school soon and I thought this might come in handy for her.  I don't seem to have much creativity, but the image is so cute she doesn't need much more.  I colored her with copics and used Kaisercraft papers behind her.  I didn't add the "thank you" yet but I'll probably stamp that inside.  I got a new kitten recently and can't seem to find certain stamps, markers, etc. lol.

Tiddly Inks Challenge #57 - Reel Me In

I made this card for the Tiddly Inks challenge this week which was to use a "Summer Movie" or "Scary Movie".  I chose Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.  Based on the previews it looks really good..and somewhat scary so I guess that will fit into both categories :)  I used Pirate Jane and tried to color her like Angelica from the movie.  She would be all dressed in black lol.  I colored her using Copics and found some map paper that I used for the background.  I used the banner that came with Jane and added the movie name to it.

Here is the cover of the movie that I used for my card.

Supplies Used:

Paper: Cryogen White
Background Paper:  Map paper from stash (not sure who it's by) and black patterned from Memory Box

Mo's Challenge #90 - Vintage with Distressing and Lace

The challenge this week at Mo's Digital Pencil was really a challenge for me since I don't own any lace and Michael's didn't have much to choose from :)  Other than that, I also don't distress much or really know what a "Vintage" card looks like, so I am definitely at a disadvantage.  I decided to try anyway though, so here is my card.  I bought this image awhile ago and have been really wanting to use it.  I love seeing the little Irish dancers in their costumes.  I colored this girl using my Copics.  I thought the paper had a little of a vintage feel to it so I used that for my background and distressed the edges of that as well as my image.  I added the one lace border I could find at Michael's.

Supplies Used:

Mix n Match with Tiddly Inks and Make It Crafty

I am so excited to see that Tiddly Inks and Make It Crafty are coming out with a joint release on July 14th.  I have made one card using images from both companies but cannot wait to try out these new ones.  They are coming out with Victorian and Steampunk images.  This should be so much fun!   You can get sneak peeks here

Mo's Challenge #89 - Inspired by Book or Story

The challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil this week is to make something inspired by a book or story.  As soon as I looked at this sweet boy I immediately thought of a story from my childhood..well maybe a tv special, but it's a story too :)  The story was Puff the Magic Dragon. I colored this guy using my copics.  I wanted to add in some of Puff's smoke so I used a cloud template and to draw in some purple smoke and added some glitter.  I found the quote online.  Thanks :)

Michelle Perkett Challenge - All in the Ocean

The challenge this week at Michelle Perkett's is "All in the Ocean".  Michelle has so many pretty mermaids, but I had to pick one so I chose "Undersea Friends".  I really like the sentiment and the little seahorse.  I colored them with my Copics and of course added glitter to her body and tail.  Love my glitter :)  One of these days I'll learn how to take a straight picture lol..sorry about that.

Skirt of Flowers

For the first time I am putting up a card I didn't make for a challenge :)  I really like the look of the grey skin against a bold color so I was trying to do that here.  I still need to work on my shading but it's hard to get used to doing skin and hair in grey.  Thanks for looking :)

Tiddly Inks Challenge #55

The Challenge this week at Tiddly Inks was "Sugar and Spice with a Twist".  I was trying to be a little interpretive with the image - Goldilocks.  My quote reads "Women belong in the house...and in the Senate".  I used Goldilocks since she was peeking inside the window and I was trying to relate her to the quote.  She's obviously on her way to the Senate :)  Wait..if I have to explain it maybe it's not that funny after all lol.  Oh well.  I colored her with Copics and added a little patriotic bling with the star.  I tried something a little different by splitting two papers to use for the background.  Hope you like it and if at least one person gets my sense of humor I'll be happy :)

Mo's Challenge #88

The challenge at Mo's the week was to use "Flower, Flutters, Fairies and/or Fancy Fold".  I chose to use a fairy. I thought this image of the fairy with the cupcake was so cute and would make a great birthday or celebration card.  I colored her using my copics and just kept my layout simple.

Michelle Perkett Challenge - Wild about Wings

I made this card for the challenge this week at Michelle Perkett - Wild about Wings.  I wanted to do Lily is some darker colors for this challenge so I used my blues and greens for her.  I tried to lighten her wings with some grey but I am still learning to blend so it didn't come out the way I'd hoped.  If anyone has any suggestions on how to do a blue moon, I'm all ears :)  I tried a cool shadow on it and used my blender pen to smooth my lines out.  I added some stickles to her wings and flowers for some sparkle.

Good-bye My Baby

Forgive me for using this blog for something besides cards at the moment, but I have definitely not been happy with my challenge attempts lately and wanted to explain why.  Yesterday I had to put down my 7yr old cat Reno, less than a month after he was diagnosed with cancer. It feels like it all happened so fast and the decision to put him down was definitely the worst and hardest decision of my life.  I have lost pets before but this was the first time I decided to end his suffering.  He was my baby.  The runt of a litter who always had to be by my side and always looked at me with love with the biggest eyes I've ever seen.  He had the sweetest disposition and gave me so much during the 7 years I had him.  I have been grieving for the last month and trying to take care of him the best I could until the cancer spread last week and I knew we weren't going to win this.  Cancer is a horrible disease.  It is hard to watch a person die from it, but to watch an animal that doesn't understand and is relying on you for care is just devastating.  I know I will be myself again but I'm not sure how long before I feel like stamping again.  I would like to say that one thing that has helped me was that I tend to look at A LOT of blogs each day and the beauty of the cards has made me feel better.  If it weren't for all the stamping bloggers, I would definitely have been lost.  Thanks!

Good-by my baby..I'll always love you!

Tiddly Inks Challenge #54-Create a one- layered card

For this card, I printed the image and the sentiment on a white card and colored with copics.  The challenge had said ribbon was okay but hopefully a little tape and glitter is okay as well. The card really needed a little something and I tried lines around her but I couldn't get it to come out okay.  I used scor-tape and some glitter across the top to make the top not so white.  I am entering this card in the Tiddly Inks Challenge #54.

Supplies Used:
Image:  You are On My Mind by Tiddly Inks
Sentiment was computer generated
Card: A2 White
Coloring Medium: Copic Markers
Embellishments: Scor-tape and green glitter

Mo's Challenge #87..Tags, tags and more tags

I haven't actually made a tag in a really long time, mostly in classes actually.  I decided that I wanted to make a Christmas tag since that is when I'd be most likely to use it.  I made this tag out of grey paper along with a patterened star paper.  I cut out the bear, which was colored with pencils.  I am entering this tag in the Mo's Digital Pencil Tags Challenge

Supplies Used:
Image: Arctic Steed Mo Manning
Paper: Neenah White
Additional Paper: Star pattern and grey from stash
Coloring Medium: Prismacolor Pencils
Embellishments: Silver and Blue/purple ribbons, stickles

Michelle Perkett Challenge - Flowers Galore

For this card, I used color pencils on the main image and unfortunately tried to also use gamsol on the swirlies which did not come out as I hoped. I used a flower paper for the background and added a red flower in the corner to add to it.  For some reason my picture didn't show the colors correctly..the card is not a fluorescent color but looks like it here.  I am entering this card in the Michelle Perkett Flowers Galore Challenge this week.

Make it Colourful Challenge #22-Blues

Hello.  I came across the challenge today at Make it Colourful and decided to try to enter.  I have been wanting to try to use a Make It Crafty image for awhile but wasn't sure what I wanted to make so this was a good opportunity.  I've seen other cards using Tiddly Inks and Make it Crafty and they look nice together.  I attempted a merge of Make It Crafty's Butterfly Swing with Tiddly Inks Fairy Fae.  It didn't come out as I had hoped but I'm sure it takes some practice.  I colored the images using my copics in blue and instead of making a card as I usually do, just backed the image on a patterned paper for now.  I added some glitter to her wings to make her sparkle a little.

Michelle Perkett Challenge - Father's Day with Brown/Neutral Colors

The Michelle Perkett Challenge this week was to make a Father's Day card using brown/neutral colors.  This is definitely a tough one.  I love Michelle's mermaids and fairies but am not creative enough to come up with a way to use them on a Father's Day card so I used this cute dog. I figure I can use it on so many different types of cards so it's perfect for me.  I colored him grey and used one of the new Valise papers from Memory Box as the strip across the card.

Tiddly Inks Challenge #53- Going Goth

The challenge at Tiddly Inks this week is to create a "fun dark card".  I've actually been wanting to use tonal greys for a card so this was my chance.  I used Always the Flower Girl for my card.  I haven't attempted black hair yet so I decided on blue. I used a grunge paper for the background.

Mo's Challenge #85..Sketch

Hello :) The challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil this week was a sketch challenge. This is my first sketch challenge so I tried to stay as close to the sketch as possible.  I am really not much of a flower embellishment person so I don't have too many colors but I found some that matched somewhat.  I used My Friend for the image.  I just love this little girl peeking at the dog.  I colored her with Copics..I can't wait to take my first class soon so I can be better at the shading :)

Tiddly Inks Challenge #52- Darling Diva

I made this card for the Tiddly Inks Darling Diva Challenge this week. I used UggaBugga Diva for my card and colored her with copics.  I love the way her hand tilts like showing off a ring so I attempted to draw one and use a pink gem for the diamond.  Even cavewomen can be divas :)  The quote I found online and printed off on my computer.

Mo's Challenge #84..Pearls & Flowers

The challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil this week was to use pearls and flowers in your project.  Using pearls and flowers together for me is a lot of embellishments lol.  I tend to just use glitter and ribbon, so this was fun.  I colored my image with copics and put the pearls on her crown and wand as well as in the middle of a paper flower I added.  I added some stickles to her wings for my glitter :)  Thanks for looking.

Tiddly Inks Challenge #51- Manly Men

The Tiddly Inks challenge this week was to make a project to celebrate the men in our lives.   The man who has had the greatest influence on my life was my grandfather who unfortunately is no longer with us.  I decided to make this card to honor him.  My grandfather was an artist who painted a lot of seascapes which is why I chose this lighthouse image.  It reminds me of him.  He taught me to paint and to make things with my hands.  Those gifts always meant the most.  I'm sure he would have loved this card :)    Sorry for the weird angle.  One of these days I'll learn how to take pictures.

D2D Friday’s Image Challenge – “Summer Days”

Designed2Delight came up with a new image called "Summer Days" to use for their challenge this week. For my card I colored the scene with watercolor pencils.  I used Memory Box paper for my patterned paper and made the sentiment on my computer.  I am still trying to come up with good photos so I attempted to use my Ott-Lite for this but it came out a little dark so I'm sorry about that.  I've been having a bad week because the love of my life, a 7yr old black cat, was just diagnosed with cancer.  Stamping helps me focus on other things but I'm afraid I don't do the kind of work I'd like to.  Next week will be better :)

Michelle Perkett Challenge - Say it with Die Cuts!

The challenge from Michelle Perkett's blog this week was to use die cuts.  I don't have a very big collection, but I do own a Big Shots at least so I can do some cutting.  For this card I used a Deckled Edge Die to cut out the image. I chose Arianna since it's an image I recently purchased but haven't used yet. I used copics to color her and added some stickles to her wings to make her sparkle a little.

Supplies Used:

Mo's Challenge #83...Distressing

The challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil this week uses a technique that is new to me..distressing.  I own several distress inks as well as a distressing tool but haven't really had much luck making them work.  For this card I used my distress inks and a watercolor brush to paint the image and then sponged some ink around the edges to make it look worn.  The background was done with a stamp using the same distress ink I used for the edges of the image.  I'm guessing this technique takes some time to perfect :)

Supplies Used:
Background Image: Impression Obsession Cover-A-Card Wavy Lines
Paper: Canson Watercolor
Coloring Medium: Distress Inks and water
Embellishments:  Twine

Tiddly Inks Challenge #50 - Inspire Me!

The Inspire Me challenge at Tiddly Inks this week was the first time I tried to create a card based on a particular color scheme.  This is the first time I've tried something like this but I really enjoyed the challenge.  Here is the card I made.  I found a paper I thought was perfect for this so I used that as my background as well as the accent pieces.  I colored the image using Prismacolor pencils.

Designed2Delight - Friday Free Image Challenge – Skater Boy

I made this card for the Designed2Delight - Friday Free Image Challenge – Skater Boy.  I don't do many boy cards so this card was a little bit of a challenge for me.  I colored him using watercolor pencils and "accidentally" splattered some color on the paper and decided I liked it so I kept going lol. Michelle Perkett - Mermaids Galore Challenge

I made this card for the Michelle Perkett -Mermaids Galore Challenge .  This is my first card using one her images and I really like it.  I especially like the message of "Just Breathe" on it.  I decided to keep the card simple and try to put the focus on the image.  I'm sorry it's a little blurry.  I must have moved my hand a little when taking the picture.  I chose to color her with Twinkling H2Os which may not be coming across well in the photo, but she's very shimmery.  Thanks for looking :)

Tiddly Inks Party Puzzler Blog Hop

I made this card for the Tiddly Inks Party Puzzler Blog Hop.  I discovered Christy Croll's images just a couple of months ago while looking for breast cancer related stamps.  This was the first image I purchased so I thought I would use her.  There is a history of breast cancer in my family so any stamps related to breast cancer seem to be part of my stamp collection :) I colored her with watercolors and added some glitter to the ribbon.  I lack the ability to "bling" my cards but tried to add a crystal brad.  I'll have to work on adding more embellishments to my cards.  Thanks for looking.

Designed2Delight Pail of Flowers May Challenge

I made this card for the Designed2Delight May Challenge. This is my first challenge so I am very nervous.  There are many extremely talented stampers out there so it's a little intimidating :)  This stamp is so pretty and so easy to work with.  I had a lot of fun coloring it and can imagine many other color combinations I'd like to try.  Please excuse my photo.  I am still working out how to get good pictures.

I have fallen in love with watercolors lately so I used my watercolor pencils on this image.  Thanks for looking :)

Welcome

This is my first blog and my first post so please bear with me.  My main focus is on cards for women with breast cancer so you may see a lot of those on my site, but I like to try new things as well.  There are so many cute stamps out there!  As soon as I can manage to finish a card I'll upload it.  I can never seem to finish them.  I guess that's the ADHD :)  I am hoping to participate in some challenges to improve my stamping so we'll see.
